Young Thug’s Album Cover Sparks Jokes About AI, Sammy Sosa, and Druski
Thug just can’t catch a break when it comes to album artwork.

Young Thug’s much-anticipated album UY Scuti dropped Friday, but the cover art may have stolen the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
The cover shows Thug staring straight into the camera, hands delicately cradling his face, and, well… looking a few shades lighter than usual.
Online people wasted no time clowning him. One person posted a photo of Druski in his “whiteface” sketch, while another cracked: “LMAOOOO I thought it was AI. He’s Vybz Kartel at this point.”
Others went even more cringe asking, is “that Sammy Sosa??”
And, of course, someone had to compare it to the Doja Cat cover discourse surround her new album, Vie.
“And people were making a whole fuss because of Doja Cat's album cover…"
Exactly lol.

It’s not the first time Thug has baffled people with his art. Remember Jeffery, where he posed in a powder-blue dress that turned him into the dancing emoji IRL? That was roasted, too, until, of course, the music shut everyone up.
But whether UY Scuti will do the same remains to be seen. The album boasts features from Cardi B (Thug’s album was supposed to drop last week, when Cardi’s did, so her presence is def a treat), Ken Carson, T.I., and Mariah the Scientist. In spit of this stacked list, fans are already side-eyeing the opening song “Ninja," where Thug drops the N-word with a hard “ER.” On TikTok, people can’t stop replaying that one line with varying levels of disbelief, running the song back to make sure they actually heard what they thought they did and others cutting it off altogether.
If the noise surrounding Thug’s album feels a little light, the rollout hasn’t exactly been helped by leaked jail calls in which he trashed Glorilla, Future, and Lil Baby, and even admitted to cheating on Mariah. He’s since posted a slew of apologetic Instagram letters, but whether that’ll get people back on his side is open for debate.
