Republicans Are so Upset About Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show They’re Throwing Their Own
Turning Point USA is hosting an “All-American Halftime Show” during the Super Bowl.

Nothing, apparently, says patriotism like throwing a tantrum over a Puerto Rican pop star.
Turning Point USA, the organization founded by the late right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, announced Thursday that it will host its own version of the Super Bowl halftime show. No, we didn’t just make that up.
The group is calling it the “All-American Halftime Show,” scheduled for the same day Bad Bunny takes the NFL stage at San Francisco’s Levi’s Stadium.
“HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT,” the X account for the organization tweeted. “It’s true, Turning Point USA is thrilled to announce The All-American Halftime Show. Performers and event details coming soon.”

The post links to a website inviting users to “sign up for updates,” collecting names, emails, and phone numbers—and, by way of a poll, asking people what kind of music they’d like to hear. The genre options include hip-hop, country, pop, and the incredibly unsubtle “anything in English.”
The announcement comes after days of outrage from the right over Bad Bunny’s selection as halftime headliner. The Puerto Rican megastar has made it clear his set will be entirely in Spanish and that he’s has been delightfully unbothered by the backlash.
During his Saturday Night Live monologue last weekend, he joked, “I’m very happy. And I think everyone is happy about it. Even Fox News.”
Then, in Spanish, he framed the moment as bigger than himself.
“It’s a win for myself; it’s a win for all of us. Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.”
After the halftime announcement last month, predictably, conservative commentators like former race-car driver Danica Patrick chimed in to complain about an incoming non-English performance.
“Oh fun,” Patrick said on X. “No songs in English should not be allowed at one of America’s highest rated television events of the year … not just for sports.”
President Trump also isn’t a fan of the selection.
“I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it—it’s, like, crazy,” Trump said in an interview with the right-wing outlet Newsmax. “They blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
As for Turning Point’s rival halftime show, there have been no lineup, location, and time announcements.
Just vibes and American flag emojis.
