Summer Walker’s Very Unserious Album Rollout Is the Most Fun She’s Ever Had
The R&B star is finally loosening.

Summer Walker is entering her unserious era—and, honestly, it suits her perfectly. The R&B star is gearing up to release her third studio album, Finally Over It, on Nov. 14, and for once, she’s actually enjoying the rollout. Yes, Summer, the same Summer who used to treat red carpets like federal court appearances, is now fully leaning into the fun of promoting her music.
For years, Walker has been open about her shyness, her anxiety, and her complete lack of interest in being “on” for the public. Her timid red-carpet poses became memes. Her interviews turned into fan-favorite “relatable introvert” moments. But over the last couple of years, something shifted. She’s more comfortable, more expressive, and based on this rollout, she’s letting herself have a genuinely good time.
Exhibit A: the album cover. Summer channels Anna Nicole Smith, standing beside an elderly white man who looks like he’s waiting for his nightly bed pan changed. And considering Summer’s actual dating history? Please. She’s not showing up with a man who was eligible for AARP before she was eligible for prom. The visual joke is loud and she’s clearly in on it.
Then there’s the Finally Over It Escape Room, a very unserious, very creative nod to escaping your exes (literally). To announce it, Summer dropped a spoof of Scream, with an appearance from a goofy Ghostface. On the phone, he calls her “queen,” asks about the imaginary old man from the VMAs, and even tries to pitch himself as a rapper. When he finally appears with a knife, his first line is the universal menace of every man who thinks he’s charming with "Where my hug at?”
Instead of sprinting away, Summer and Ghostface share a tiny shoulder shimmy before she remembers she’s supposed to be terrified and bolts. Fans immediately embraced the silliness.
“I love whatever is wrong with you 😭,” one follower commented.
“LMFAOOOOOOO YO this is hilarious 😭😭😭😭,” rapper Young Baby Tate wrote.
“Mama gotta play more during rollouts. She seems entertaining,” another person added.
Exactly. It’s refreshing to see Summer leaning into humor and showing more personality without letting anxiety take over. If Finally Over It sounds even half as fun as this rollout looks, we’re in for something good.
