‘Spring Breakers’ Sequel Is a Go With New Cast Including Bella Thorne
Matthew Bright will take on directing duties.

It’s official: We’re getting another Spring Breakers movie.
The producers behind the original film that starred Ashley Benson, James Franco, Rachel Korine, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, and Gucci Mane told Variety that a sequel to the 2013 film, Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain, is in the works.
The new movie will feature a whole new cast, including Disney Channel alum Bella Thorne, Zombies 2’s Ariel Martin, Stranger Things’ Grace Van Dien, and Godfather of Harlem’s True Whitaker. Matthew Bright will take on directing duties, replacing Harmony Korine.
According to Variety, the sequel will revolve around four “rebellious girls” taking a road trip for spring break, but “when their trip explodes out of control, they’re forced to outrun the chaos they’ve created.”

Variety says the movie is being described as “a bold new ride for Gen Z.”
“We’re thrilled to be working with Christian and Capture on Spring Breakers – Salvation Mountain and excited to keep exploring bold, new, disruptive stories around that wild, fever-dream of youth,” Chris Hanley and Jordan Gertner, producers of both movies, told Variety. “The desire for Spring Break to go on forever is something we’ve never let go of.”
Gomez talked about her Spring Breakers days to the Hollywood Reporter in 2024, saying since she was finishing her time on Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place, she really just wanted “to do a cool project” afterwards.
“We had done over 100 episodes of Wizards and two movies for Wizards, and then I did a few lovely, cute projects in between that I’m grateful for, and then I met with [director Harmony Korine]. I love interesting filmmakers, and he was so colorful and he had so many different ways of auditioning me. It was more like, ‘Who are you and what is that like?’” she said.
No word yet on when Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain will drop.
