Over the 50-plus-year history of the the genre, hip-hop producers have flipped all kinds of samples. On Public Domain, an original series from Type.Set.Brooklyn, beatmakers mine century-old songs to create something current.

This week, WhoJiggi loops up a piece of “Golden Days,” an operetta recorded by Sid Romberg in 1924, and B Jack$ spits over the finished product.
