Luigi Mangione the model?

Mangione started trending again, not for courtroom updates, but because his face somehow ended up on the body of a model on Shein’s website.

In the photo, which many suspect is AI-generated, a smiling “Luigi” cups his neck while modeling a white shirt patterned with tiny blue and green images, paired with plain black pants. The image made the rounds almost instantly, with users collectively asking: How did this even happen?

"The image in question was provided by a third-party vendor and was removed immediately upon discovery. We have stringent standards for all listings on our platform,” Shein said in a statement to TMZ. “We are conducting a thorough investigation, strengthening our monitoring processes, and will take appropriate action against the vendor in line with our policies."

Luigi Mangione's face has seemed to appear on Shein's website... He's currently awaiting trial accused of killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. It's unclear how his face has seemingly ended up on the retailer's site.

The comment section, as expected, had a field day.

“It’s so obviously AI I’m concerned for the people who thought Luigi Mangione got pulled out of prison for Shein,” one TikTok user wrote.

“SheIn? bro deserves Loui Vuitton sth🥀," another joked.

The absurdity of the moment is amplified by Mangione’s real-world circumstances. He is currently awaiting trial for the murder of Brian Thompson, the former CEO of UnitedHealthcare. The charges against Mangione are sprawling, encompassing 11 state counts and four federal ones, including first-degree murder, murder in furtherance of terrorism, criminal possession of a weapon, and stalking.

Still, the bizarre Shein cameo is just the latest cultural spin-off attached to his name. Earlier this summer, a fictionalized play, Luigi: The Musical, ran in San Francisco, dramatizing the manhunt for him. And just weeks ago, actor Dave Franco admitted on Watch What Happens Live that he wouldn’t rule out playing Luigi in a film adaptation.

“This is something that more people in my life reached out about this exact thing than anything else that has ever happened,” he said. “So let’s just say I’m open if it’s the right people, and let’s leave it at that.”
