Lola Young Announces Indefinite Hiatus Following Onstage Collapse
“I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future,” the 24-year-old wrote.

Lola Young, the singer behind 2024’s viral song “Messy,” is stepping away from the spotlight for an indefinite period following a health scare at a music festival over the weekend, she announced on Instagram.
The singer said she was going to go away for awhile in a grid post Tuesday afternoon.
“It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future,” the 24-year-old wrote. “Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down, who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know.”
Young said ticket buyers would be entitled to a refund. She also asked fans for forgiveness and to give her another chance, once she had “time to work on myself and come back stronger.”
The announcement comes in the wake of Young passing out at the New York City edition of the All Things Go festival, which took place on Saturday at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens.
In videos posted to social media, Lola is in the middle of her song “Conceited” when she becomes wary, starts mouthing something to a bandmate, stumbling, and then ultimately drops her mic and falls backwards to the ground. Medical staff then took her offstage.
Before jumping into her own set later that night, Doechii took a moment to send kind words.
“Before we get started, though, I have a lot planned for you guys, but I want to acknowledge my sister Lola Young,” Doechii said. “She’s an incredibly talented artist, and she wasn’t feeling well tonight, and I’m so glad that you guys were there to support her and hold her up. Let’s wish her the best, okay, everybody? Say, we love you, Lola!”
Later, in an Instagram story, Lola said she was doing “okay now.”
“Thank you for all of your support Lola xxx,” she wrote. She did not share why she passed out.
In the comments of Tuesday’s post, several other musicians showed their support.
“You come first,” Kehlani said.
“Love you so much ❤️,” Ravyn Lenae wrote.
“Take all the time you need babe ❤️🩹,” Princess Nokia advised.
Young speaks openly about her mental health and struggles to stay sober. In a recent profile in the New York Times, she shared that her latest album, I’m Only Fucking Myself, is about that journey.
“It was dark and I’m very happy I’m growing out of it,” she said. “I want to be an advocate for people who’ve suffered, but I’m not quite in a position to go, ‘Sobriety is the way.”
Later in the story, it’s revealed that Young relapsed in July.
