We’ve all been there: It’s late at night, we’re putting down our paint brush, we’re pondering our life’s work, our oeuvre, and we think, “I’ve reached truly staggering artistic heights.”

Such was the case with Kid Cudi, who, overnight, as he was painting, listened to Indicud, his 2013 album, and experienced a moment of clarity.

By his own impartial assessment, Cudi was “just on fire producing this album,” as evidenced by “the bars, the hooks.” Indicud includes fan favorites like “Just What I Am” and, of course, “Unfuckittable,” titles that suggest Cudi had at least some sense of the album’s resonance.

Cudi released eight solo albums after Indicud. His discography also includes projects with Dot Da Genius and Kanye West. Per the tweets—which drew a near-unanimous response—he’ll revisit Satellite next.
