Kevin Federline has serious concerns about Britney Spears, which he details in a new book.

In the book, titled You Thought You Knew, Federline, who was married to Spears between 2004 and 2007,  says that, as teenagers, his sons at times didn’t want to live with their mother, the New York Times reports.

“They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand,” he wrote in the book. “Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation.“

“The truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it’s racing toward something irreversible,” he also wrote.

“It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK,” he said. “From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”

A spokesperson for Spears said: “With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”

Federline told the Times he had not spoken with Britney in years.

Spears chronicled her side of the marriage in her 2023 book, The Woman in Me. Spears and Federline have two sons together, Sean Preston, now 20, and Jayden James, 19. Her conservatorship was terminated in 2021.

“Now, more than ever, they need your support,” Federline wrote. “I’ve been their buffer for years, but now it’s bigger than me. It’s time to sound the alarm.”

You Thought You Knew is due out Oct. 21.
