‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ Halted ‘Indefinitely’ Over Charlie Kirk Remarks
The move comes amid government pressure on ABC.

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is going silent.
ABC on Wednesday announced that it was pulling the show “indefinitely” for its host’s comments on the killing of Charlie Kirk and the ensuing discourse, Variety reports. Nexstar Media, a major owner of TV stations across the country, said it wouldn’t air the show in its markets.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Jimmy Kimmel said in his Monday night monologue.
After Kimmel noted that the president was grieving, the show cut to a clip of Donald Trump answering media questions outside the White House. A reporter asks him how he’s handled the last day and a half.
“I think very good,” Trump says. “And by the way, right there, you see all the trucks? They’ve just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House, which is something they’ve been trying to get, as you know, for about 150 years, and it’s gonna be a beauty."
“He’s at the fourth stage of grief,” Kimmel commented. “Construction.”
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, who on Wednesday threatened action against ABC, thanked Nexstar for pressuring it to pull the show. “Local broadcasters have an obligation to serve the public interest," he said in a statement on social media. ”While this may be an unprecedented decision, it is important for broadcasters to push back on Disney programming that they determine falls short of community.”
Jimmy Kimmel Live! debuted in January 2003. Kimmel has yet to comment publicly on the show being pulled.
