Canadian Politician Shares Excuse for Attending Kendrick Show in Toronto: ‘I Went for SZA’
“I shouldn’t have gone at all.”

A Canadian politician is backsliding on his decision to attend the Kendrick Lamar and SZA concert after Drake called him out for it.
Jagmeet Singh, former leader of the New Democratic Party, apologized to the rapper, who’s basically a walking advertisement for the country, in an Instagram story late Sunday evening after Drake posted his own Instagram story, which showed him calling Singh a “goof” in the DMs.
Singh attended one of the two nights Kendrick and SZA took over Toronto’s Rogers Centre on the Grand National Tour.
“I went for SZA, not Kendrick,” Singh wrote on his story. “I was born in this city. I love this city. But real talk, I get it. I shouldn’t have gone at all.
“OVO and Drake have lifted up this city and [Canada],” he continued. “For me it’ll always be Drake over Kendrick.”
He ended his message with the finger peace sign emoji.

There’s been much debate about weather you’re committing treason by attending the concert if you’re Canadian.
“I’m a Drake fan, but I came to see how it is,” one attendee said in a street interview. “It’s a little awkward to be here, but it’s summertime, and I wanted to be outside. I’m not here to support Kendrick. I got dragged here.”
“I think he’s definitely going to perform [Not Like Us]. I think he’ll perform it six times in the Six, and I think it’s going to be the most disrespectful thing on the internet,” another attendee said.
Don’t know if it’s disrespectful, but the Toronto crowd definitely didn’t shy away from rapping along to “Not Like Us,” “a-minooorrrrr” line included, some TikTok videos of the performance showed.
