The Internet Is Frying Ian Over a 5-Second Snippet of a Freestyle
The bars, as heard in the trailer for XXL’s Freshman freestyles, have the timeline in tears.

The internet is not impressed with Ian’s bars.
The Dallas rapper’s XXL Freshman freestyle was previewed in a trailer released on YouTube, and now the internet is scared to hear the full version.
In the five-second snippet, Ian raps:
“Damn, I’m on my Britney shit, oops, I hit again / Damn, I’m on my DJ Khaled shit—we the best / Damn, we rolling hella deep—I feel like Adele.”
This is happening while a crew behind him snaps their fingers and hums in unison.
TikTok wasted absolutely no time. Users launched into roasting sessions and bar breakdowns, even offering emergency rewrite sessions. One user asked, “What could he possibly say after this to make it good?”
Another wrote, “Don’t even need to hear the full freestyle if XXL said this is the best snippet that they could show😭😭😭😭.”
User @thinkpiecetribe2 really let loose: “Again, best, Adele?” he said before going full Atlanta deep cut. “Lil Yachty, I don’t know if you’ve watched Atlanta yet but take your young white avatar back to the factory. We gotta reset the setting bro. He got no bars.”
@thinkpiecetribe2 Don’t even need to hear the full freestyle if XXL said this is the best snippet that they could show from his freestyle😭😭😭😭…#fyp #foryoupage

Thinkpiece is referencing “Born 2 Die” the third episode of Atlanta’s fourth season, which imagines white rappers as vehicles for older Black rappers to profit from.
To be clear, Ian isn’t signed to Yachty. But they have collaborated and praised each other in the past.
On the bright side, Ian’s got the kids quoting Britney, Adele, and Khaled.
Other members of XXL’s 2025 Freshman class include Ray Vaughn, BabyChiefDoIt, 1900Rugrat, Nino Paid, and Gelo.
@faithrosiee_ Ian take notes #xxlfreshman
