‘We Got a Lot to Talk About’: Every Subject Drake Should Address on ‘Iceman’

Here’s a cheat sheet of topics that need clearing up on his forthcoming LP.

The Boy’s got something to say. Or at least that’s what he told a crowd in the U.K. while teasing his next studio release. “You know I’m working on my album Iceman,” he said. “We got a lot to talk about.”

No release date has been announced, but the Drizzy is coming—enter his newest single, “What Did I Miss?”

The comeback single dropped earlier this month and set the tone for what will be Drake’s ninth solo album.

Iceman will no doubt be filled with heartbreak, fake-friend paranoia, and more bars to show just how disconnected from the poor he is, but, respectfully, if that’s all we’ll get, we don’t want it.

The man has been everywhere the past few years: in headlines, in rap beefs, and in the comment section of every major post about him. So, yes, Drizzy, let’s talk, but let’s really get chatty. Here’s a little cheat sheet of topics that need clearing up on his forthcoming LP Iceman

The James Family Cold War

The LeBron-sized elephant in the room is clear: He and wife Savannah were front row at Kendrick’s “Pop Out” concert last Juneteenth, mouthing “Not Like Us” like they wrote personally penned it. For those keeping score at home, that’s the diss track accusing Drake of some extremely unflattering things. And it wasn’t just a passive cameo. LeBron also rapped “Man at the Garden” lyrics at his birthday party, essentially cosigning Kendrick’s whole album GNX with a bow on top. They were recently seen again rapping along to “Not Like Us.”

Drake doesn’t need to overdo it, but he does need to give us a verse or two acknowledging the betrayal. There are lines on “What Did I Miss?” that could be directed at LeBron, but Drake, be bold. Say a name and take it there. This is album material, not the kind you leave for IG stories and comments.

The Curious Case of Those “Abs”

Drake’s always been thirsty on main, but even fans who have his IG post notifications on were left blinking at that selfie. You know the one: freshly edged beard, face covered but you just know he’s pouting those lips, and abs that looked suspiciously like they were imported from a Miami med spa. Naturally, the internet had questions: Why don’t the arms match the set? Are these Photoshop? Was Megan Thee Stallion onto something all along?

We’re not here to judge. Get snatched, king. But he might as well turn it into a big moment and address it head-on.

What Happened With the Kai Cenat Stream?

For months, Kai teased the idea of directing a Drake music video, and fans were foaming at the mouth over a possible stream collab. But when it came time for the big link-up, Drizzy ghosted harder than a Tinder match. What gives?

Kai is Twitch royalty and exactly the kind of cultural currency Drake normally hovers over. So why the dodge? Did something go left behind the scenes? Was it just scheduling? Or did Drake, for once, decide not to ride the internet wave? If Iceman is about who he is now, we need a bar about Kai, Twitch, or, at the very least, a cheeky skit of him answering his DMs like, “Damn my bad bro.”

The SZA Sitch

You know what’s icier than an ex who ghosted you? An ex who tours with your rap nemesis. SZA, who Drake once claimed to have dated in 2008, has clearly picked a side in the Kendrick/Drake beef, and it ain’t Champagne Papi’s. She’s dropped multiple records with K-Dot since, interviewed him for magazines, and gone on an entire stadium tour with him, which will be both of their most lucrative endeavors.

Drake, for all his pettiness, has stayed quiet about it. But we need answers. Is he hurt? Unbothered? Plotting a “Marvins Room” Part 2? This is the perfect chance to get messy, acknowledge the fallout, maybe even wish her well, but don’t act like it didn’t happen.

Future, Rick Ross, and the Anti-Drake Alliance

It’s been more than two years since Drake’s friends became his foes and one of them put this out. But while The Boy may have more to say about Kendrick, he seems to have litigated his standing with Future, Rick Ross, Metro Boomin, and whoever else wronged him on “What Did I Miss?,” the existential question of a song he released earlier this month. So we’re not expecting much on this front—not even an “and all you other cats throwin’ shots at Drizzy” half-bar.
