Chase N. Cashe and Sura Ali Scream for Ice Cream on ‘Public Domain’
The New Orleans producer and Brooklyn rapper flip a century-old sample.
Chase N. Cashe has a long list of production credits, including songs by Drake, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, and Beyoncé—among others. And you might have caught Sura Ali on Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow.
The two recently linked in Brooklyn, Sura’s home, to go through a catalog of century-old tracks and flip something old into something new. That wound up being “We All Scream for Ice Cream,” performed by Fred Waring in 1928.
Check out their episode of Public Domain, a Type.Set.Brooklyn original series, above.
