Bad Bunny Reveals Why His World Tour Won’t Include America: ’F*cking ICE Could Be Outside’

Bad Bunny says he isn’t touring the United States this time around for fear his fans could be detained by ICE.
In a new interview with I-D, the Puerto Rican superstar clarified that it wasn’t about disliking the U.S.—it was about protecting his audience during his upcoming 54-stop tour in support of his Debí Tirar Más Fotos album.
“I’ve performed there many times,” he said. “All of [the shows] have been successful. All of them have been magnificent. I’ve enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the US.”
He continued: “But specifically, for a residency here in Puerto Rico, when we are an unincorporated territory of the US… People from the US could come here to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world. But there was the issue of—like, fucking ICE could be outside [my concert]. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

ICE, which stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, raids have long stoked fear among Latino communities across the U.S. In recent months, ICE has carried out aggressive attacks in workplaces and neighborhoods, sparking widespread criticism and protest.
Bad Bunny himself has directly called out the raids. He once filmed what appeared to be an ICE operation in Puerto Rico, posting the video on his Instagram story with the caption “ice," according to Variety.
“Look, those motherfuckers are in these cars, RAV-4s,” Bad Bunny said in the video as he pans over a license then toward police officers. “They’re here in Pontezuela, sons of bitches, instead of leaving those people working there in peace."
