Man Who Rushed Ariana Grande at ‘Wicked: For Good’ Premiere Charged
Johnson Wen told a judge he plans to plead guilty.

The man who attempted to rush Ariana Grande at the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore is now facing consequences. Johnson Wen, a 26-year-old Australian, was charged on Nov. 14 with being a public nuisance, according to the New Straits Times.
The outlet says Wen appeared in district court via video link and told the judge he intends to plead guilty.
The incident unfolded on Nov. 13 at Universal Studios Singapore in Sentosa, where Grande attended the premiere alongside co-stars Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum. Multiple videos from nearly every angle show Wen sprinting straight toward Grande before security intercepts him. Erivo reacted instantly, moving directly in front of Grande as guards swarmed and dragged the man away. Grande was unharmed.

But Grande isn’t the only artist dealing with boundary-obliterating fan behavior this year. Billie Eilish was attacked during a concert when a fan pulled her toward the barricades. In that case, it wasn’t security that intervened first, but instead another fan, who pulled the attacker away before guards could reach them and she could become known as “red bandana girl.”
Wen, for his part, later posted online about “meeting” Ariana as if their encounter actually counted as that. Which raises the real question: What will Wen actually gain from doing this? Any attention he receives will be short-lived.
Under Singapore law, a public-nuisance charge carries up to three months in jail, a fine of up to S$2,000, or both.
