LeBron James had basketball fans holding their breath Monday, teasing what looked like a major career announcement in a video posted to his social media.

Many assumed the NBA legend was gearing up to reveal his retirement after over 20 seasons playing. The original video he posted was an obvious callback to his infamous 2010 ESPN special, The Decision, where he announced he’d be “taking [his] talents to South Beach.”

But this time, LeBron’s big reveal had nothing to do with the Lakers, or basketball at all. It was an ad for Hennessy.

“This fall, I’m going to be taking my talents to Hennessy V.S.O.P,” he says in the clip. “I feel like it’s going to give me the best opportunity to win at hosting. Not only that—to win at signature cocktails, win at having a good time, win at impressing guests, win at making memories, win at making it look easy. Win at leaving people wanting more.”

People had their jokes ready in the drafts.

“Somehow still not the worst ‘Decision’ of LeBron’s career,” betting site Bovada tweeted.

“Everyone was freaking out just for LeBron to decide he just wanted to get drunk," another user wrote.

The ad marks the start of LeBron’s 23rd season year in the NBA.
